Common Cold Cure

Wouldn’t it be great to cure the common cold but as most people are aware there is no cure yet. But since I woke up with a bad cold this morning I did some digging around for a cold cure.

I don’t get many colds since I have a good diet, I jog regularly and tend to keep warm most of the time. But over the last week I have been burning the candle at both ends with too much drinking and late nights. I’ve also been doing alot of jogging and cutting back on food to loose a bit of weight.

So I think I wore myself out and weakened my immune system. So one tip to come out of this is to give your body adequate rest and recovery after big nights out and when you feel weaker than usual. To clear my congested nose, I avoided hard blowing since that can push mucus into your ear passages and then it can take days to clear. Disgusting or not, I favour mopping it out with tissues.

Then I had a hot shower with plenty of steam which helps to clear the nose a bit too. For breakfast, I had a large bannana, a couple of vitamin C capsules and an asprin. During the day, I made sure I kept warm. For lunch I had a medium-sized meal but for the evening I have only eaten an orange, a couple more vitamin C capsules and a multi-vitamin tablet.

Now my nose and ears are clear but the nose is quite runny and I have a mild head ache. So quite an improvement from the morning when my nose was stuffed with thick yellow mucus. Mentally I am not letting it get me down since I think a positive mental attitude helps fight infection.

I didn’t exercise today. Tomorrow I plan to do some mild exercise to raise the body temperature and get the blood pumping around. I’m hoping this will accelerate my recovery since I have another night out planned :-)

In my search for some good online tips for fighting colds I think this was the best article I found.
